Remembering 70 Years After The Pearl Harbor Bombing, People Show Courage In Difficulty
The tale of Pearl Harbor is more than a love story portrayed on film, brought to life by the famous names of Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale. It is actually, even so, a story of love that emerged from hate.
It's been 70 years since that infamous Early Sunday morning of the 7th of December 1941 at a lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii - Famously identified as pearl harbor. Around 84,000 uniformed American military officers and even personnel were on Oahu on that day. What appears to be a usual, peaceful Sunday morning turned into horror.
At about 6 in the morning, the Japanese carriers released the first wave of dive and horizontal bombers, with fighters. The invasion crippled American ships and military installations pretty much minutes before the clock reached 8 in the morning. A second wave of 170 Japanese planes followed. It was the very first deliberate attack on the United States of America.
What actually transpired that morning will perpetually be remembered. The strike claimed some 2,403 lives, most of which are of our brothers and sisters from the military, including 68 civilians. Unfortunately, most of the Pearl Harbor survivors today are now living in their late 80s and 90s - however their tales are never forgotten. Loved ones retell their forefathers' stories and vow to pass it onto the next generations.
Fast forward 70 years, only few survivors are left at present with some documentaries retelling the experiences. It's sad to grasp that the youth today might forget about what took place at Pearl Harbor, or perhaps never knowing it occurred.
That fateful Early Sunday morning will eternally stay in our hearts. What started as hate that generated the attack and brought the US to war eventually turned to love as we forgave all those who have wronged us and whom we have wronged in war.
Remembering Pearl Harbor and the brave people who experienced it.
